The International Tennis Tournament for Women “Pyramid Cup 2024” was held in the Archaeological – Tourist – Sports Park “Ravne 2” in the past four days, organized by the Foundation “Archaeological Park: Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun” and with the technical support of the Tennis Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina. .
After many great matches, on Sunday, July 21, 2024, the placement matches were played, after which we found out the winner, and it was Dunja Marić from Novi Sad (Serbia), who won by the score 2:0 (6:1 6:3) better than B&H representative Dee Herdzelas.
Much more interesting, at least in terms of results, was in the match for third place in which two great young tennis players from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Suana Tucakovic and Thea Kovacevic, met, and Suana won with a score of 2:0 (6:3, 6:4).
On the last day of the tournament, before the placement matches, a doubles exhibition match was played in which the American-Italian combination of Enya Ratkic and Greta Carbone won against the BiH couple Laura Radakovic and Aida Setkic with a score of 2:0.
In addition to the interesting prize, the winner also won a cash sum of 3,000 euros, while the other female tennis players also received special gifts and cash prizes. The judges of the tournament also received thanks and gifts, and the best ball collector in the tournament was also announced. The awards were presented to the best by Senad Hadzimesic, Director of the Tennis Association, and Izet Radzo on behalf of OK B&H.
We had a great tournament with the participation of eight excellent players. We are continuing the tradition that we started in 2022 when the Regional Tennis Center for the preparation of top tennis players was opened by the best athlete of all time, Novak Djokovic. Last year we had 12 great players and for the first time we gathered nine of the best BH tennis players in one place, and this year again a great tournament with great matches that the audience enjoyed. This is an opportunity to show our young hopefuls that they have support in organizations and people like us. The best tennis players are always welcome here, and we will do everything to make them feel comfortable and have the best conditions for preparing and playing matches. – dr. Even the winner Dunja Maric did not hide her satisfaction with winning first place.
I am very happy that I had the opportunity to come to this place again, everything here is beautiful to me, from the terrain, the conditions, to this park and the tunnel. The tournament was at the top level in all segments and such organizations are rare in tournaments like this one. Last time I came, I had the opportunity to tour the park and the tunnel, and I must say that everything is beautiful, and I look forward to coming here again, and I hope for a new tournament where I will defend my title. – Dunja told us.
