On Monday, June 11, 2024, the Foundation ‘Archaeological Park: Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun’ opened another organized archaeological and tourist destination in Visoko. It is about an artificial conical elevation – a tumulus in Vratnica.
Today we officially opened the newly renovated archaeological site of the tumulus in Vratnica. In addition to the official guides of the Foundation, we were joined by many locals who attended the presentation at the location. This Tumulus has a height of 32 meters above the level of the road, however, during geological drilling, we found a room at a depth of 56 meters below the very top. With georadar scanning in 2023, we found another anomaly – a potential room, at a depth of 14 meters. Starting next year, we plan to carry out archaeological excavations here, and this year the Tumulus will be one of our most important tourist destinations. This is the regular training of our guides so that they can present the best information to our guests. Dr. Semir Osmanagic told us.
In preparation for the opening of this tourist location, the Foundation worked for several months on the arrangement of the access road, which it asphalted, it also built a park for guests, cleared the elevation of bushes and vegetation, made concrete-stone stairs with handrails, cleaned the very top and installed benches for 100 visitors, set up five covered tables with benches with a capacity of 40 seats. This will also serve as a new picnic area for residents of the local community with a wonderful view.
Today, the Foundation has several well-organized locations in Visoko, which are organized and arranged according to world standards and which are certainly a great advertisement for the Foundation, but also Visoko, Zenica-Doboj canton and the whole of Bosnia and Herzegovina, since they are visited annually by tens of thousands of tourists from all over of the world.
Also, the Foundation’s guide service is one of the best in this part of Europe, and the guides are the ones who make the first contact with people from all over the world and with their presentations leave a good impression on the guests, who are happy to return to the Bosnian Valley of the Pyramids.
